Commitment Ceremonies

Engage Celebrants are avid supporters of marriage equality. We'd love it if everyone in Australia who wanted to get married could. Unfortunately at the moment for some that just isn't possible, for others they don't want to. This doesn't mean that you can't shout your love from the rooftops (or quietly share them with each other in an intimate ceremony just for the two of you)!

A commitment ceremony lets you publicly declare just how wonderful you think your partner is and that you want to share the rest of your life with them. For some the ceremony is very similar to a wedding, without all the legal bits. For others it is completely different. Your celebrant will talk to you about why you are having your ceremony and offer suggestions on how to best express this on the day.

In some states homosexual couples are able to conduct a Civil Union ceremony. In others a non-binding Relationship Register can be applied for. The rules vary between states so talk to one of our young celebrants or contact your local Births, Deaths and Marriages Office for more information.

Engage Celebrants are young celebrants who believe that your ceremony should be all about you and a whole lot of fun to plan. So if you think a young celebrant is just what you need to make your commitment ceremony perfect then have a look through our profiles and see who you click with then get in touch.

Brides carry or wear "something old" on their wedding day to symbolise continuity with the past.
